Alycia Grace-O’Bear has devoted her career to the fair administration of justice, public service, legal education, and the people of Louisiana. A lifelong resident of Iberville Parish, she brings 30 years of public service and 27 years of experience as a practicing attorney to her judicial campaign.

Throughout her distinguished legal career, Grace-O’Bear has served Louisiana in numerous roles within the judicial, executive, and academic branches of government. She served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Sharah R. Harris; an Assistant District Attorney in the 18th Judicial District; an Administrative Law Judge; Deputy General Counsel for the Louisiana Division of Administrative Law; and a Law Professor at Southern University Law Center. She also served as an Administrative Law Judge for the Louisiana Ethics Adjudicatory Board of the Louisiana Board of Ethics.

Grace-O’Bear operated and maintained a private law practice, representing litigants in both civil and criminal matters. This broad professional background has given her substantial experience evaluating complex legal issues, managing court proceedings, applying the law, and understanding the real-world impact that judicial decisions have on individuals, families, businesses, and communities.

A certified mediator, Grace-O’Bear, has received specialized judicial training through the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada, including training in conducting court proceedings and rendering legal decisions. She has received several commendations for conducting fair and impartial hearings at both the federal and state levels. Her professional service reflects a commitment to treating every person with dignity, carefully considering the facts and the law, and ensuring that each matter is heard fairly.

In 2013, Grace-O’Bear received the Charles E. Dunbar, Jr. Career Service Award, which recognizes unselfish and meritorious public service to the citizens of Louisiana. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Louisiana State Bar Association, as well as the nationally recognized Heirs’ Property Practitioners’ Network. She is also a Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and is affiliated with the Tau Kappa Omega Chapter in Plaquemine, Louisiana.

Grace-O’Bear earned her undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans and her law degree from Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge. Demonstrating her continued commitment to education and public service, she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Policy.

​

Her dedication to service extends well beyond the courtroom. Grace-O’Bear is a member of First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Sunshine, Louisiana, where she serves as a Trustee Board member, Sunday School teacher, and Women’s Ministry chairperson.

​

She is married to Fabrain “Chico” O’Bear. They are the proud parents of Alijah J. O’Bear, a recent graduate of Catholic High School and an incoming college freshman at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. She is the daughter of George L. Grace, Sr. and Joyce Ambeau-Grace and the sister of Attorney George Grace, Jr., all residents of St. Gabriel, Louisiana. She lovingly honors the memory of her beloved sister, Dr. Candace A. Grace, a pediatric dentist whose life and legacy continue to inspire her family.
